Often in the night I go thinking;
and I will write down
all the truths in the world
I will write them everywhere tonight
and you'll all be amazed.....
I ain't even been drinking !
A More Ordinary Life
All at once I wished
I had lived a more ordinary life.
Less fearful, less wild, and less afraid
of love and friendship.
But as my eyes met yours,
the spark of recognition rose
from somewhere behind your face.
Exploding out of my soul,
breathless, shocked and surprised,
I accepted your gift and attempted
to return the sense of excitement.
Feeling a little like a thief,
when you embraced me
I found the only gift I could give
was one small but perfect kiss...
TO JANICE, WITH LOVE
slur the distance
and where you are.
I see your quiet face
in dreams of spacious days
when we loved
just to be.
A perfect picture still
Hangs on my wall,
its' noise broken
only by the memory
of your sweet voice singing
"Joan of Arc" for me.......
But now I rise,
from the seed of life
your love planted
here in my heart.
The lilting lanes and rolling roads,
As they rise and fall,
Disregard the approach of another starry night.
The sound of singing drifts
In the calm poetry of the Gaidhlig
to my ears from across the heath
The plaintiff cry of a' piobaireachd Hangs
upon the low howling of the wind.
The squeaking boats and squawking gulls
Harmonise the ringing waves
At Ru Chorachan, above Uig Bay
And sleep comes on the tide that flows
Across the sands of my heaven.
This home of my Celtic heart.
